Roadtrip(s)? Check.

Since I am so bad at blogging right after I complete something on my list, I have decided to just throw a bunch of posts at you all at one time. Ready? Break.

Throughout the summer, I have been out of town EVERY weekend (sorry, Auburn). I have been to Birmingham, Atlanta, Lake Rabun and Huntsville, and I will be going back to Huntsville again this weekend!

Just call me Magellan.

And what was I doing in these places, you may ask?

1. MEG AND DANNY GOT MARRIED! (Birmingham)

On June 11 I was honored to be a part of my wonderful friends' wedding. They are (well, were, actually..SAD) in War Eagle Girls and Plainsmen with me and Danny actually proposed to Meg in the middle of the football field during the first game last year! Talk about one-upping everyone else's proposal ideas..sheesh. Anyway, it was a beautiful wedding and I only have a few pictures that documented the event but I will say she was a BEAUTIFUL bride and I cannot wait to visit them in Nashville!

2. SIX FLAGS OVER GEORGIA. (Atlanta)

That's right, I went to Six Flags. A group of the spending-our-summer-in-Auburn people went to Six Flags and it was a treat. People watching at it's finest, let me tell you. I loved hanging out with new and old friends and we had a blast eating at my favorite Mexican restaurant and playing Scattergories like CHAMPS.

3. THE LAKEEEE. (Lake Rabun, duh.)

Camilla and her family invited me to her lake house for the 4th of July weekend and it was nothing short of fabulous. I am so thankful for her friendship and being able to spend some quality time with her family at the lake! We ate, read, napped---all GREAT things to do.

4. VISITING JARED. (Huntsville)

This was a new place for me. I had never been to Huntsville. That being sad, I bought a new GPS and decided that I should drive to Huntsville and surprise Jared! He loves surprises and I hate them BUT he always figures out my surprises. This time he didn't and looked like he had seen a ghost when I waved at him across the restaurant! Huntsville had a lot to live up to (everyone I know who is from there LOVES it) and I will have to say that it was a neat town. We hit up some great restaurants and took his cousin to a minor league game. It reminded me slightly of Birmingham with a mix of Dothan. Or maybe it just reminded me of Dothan because it was so hot outside. Weird, I know.

So yeah. That's what I've been doing on the weekends. I'm just so exciting about crossing something else off my list I could scream...EEEEE!

6. Take a roadtrip. CHECK.

Y'all.

Why am I so bad at continuous blogging? It's a problem. Seeing how it is JULY 20 (WHERE DID SUMMER GO???!) I will catch you up on my progress with the list.

I ate at the Yellow Hammer.

It is in Waverly, Alabama.

They have the best bread pudding I have ever eaten. EVER.

If you live near Auburn and you don't make a 15-minute trip to Waverly, you will be throroughly disappointed.

I went with Camilla and Laurin and I think they liked it almost as much as I did. I just love food so every bite of salad, steak, asparagus and dessert was divine in my book.

Here are some pictures (sorry, no flash equals blurry images)

OK, promise I am going to post VERY soon with another item crossed off my list! Stay tuned.

The Sparrow and the Wolf.

It's a song. A magical, meaningful, brilliant song. I heard it first on my great friend Sarah's video, showing her time in Italy. It's wonderful as well.

You know when you hear songs and you can just feel the music? It's weird. Maybe it only happens to music people. I cannot explain it. I'm a daydreamer, always have been and I hope I always will be. And that is exactly what this song does to me. It allows me to escape the Auburn bubble and find myself on the streets of Paris, wandering around the Pont des Arts and sipping on a cafe au lait.

The thing is, I'm not there. I'm here. And I'm learning to be content with that.

Too heavy? Maybe. Post about a FANTASTIC dinner at the Yellow Hammer Restaurant coming soon. It won't be as weird as this post, I promise.

P.S. In case you're intrigued..

Trips, a TV Series and Timesheets, Collectively.

HELLLOOOOO!

I have been quite the busy bee since I last posted. Here's a list of what's been happening lately.
1. I went to this place for a few days:
It was the first time I've ever been to a beach that wasn't on the gulf, and let me just say that it was FANTASTIC. Y'all. The Atlantic Ocean is where it's at. For real.

2. I came BACK to this place:
I realized I had missed Auburn more than I had realized! So far it's been great. I've started work but I'm still not taking classes yet.

3. Because I want to accomplish some items on my list, Camilla and I made a trip to Hastings to get Boy Meets World.

Guess what, folks? They didn't have it. Dumb. But they did have a plethora of show to choose from. Camilla and I were confused about which show to choose so naturally we rented the first discs of five different tv shows.

Out of Lost, Big Love, The Wire, Parks and Recreation, and Mad Men, guess which one we chose?
Mad Men. Let's just say it was an easy choice. It's set in the 50's and about advertising executives on Madison Avenue in New York. It's different from other shows I've watched and I like it!

So I've chosen a tv series to watch. Does that mean I can mark it off the list yet? I'm getting antsy.

A Question.

How do you get to be officially "good" at blogging? I certainly know that anyone who wishes to be an exceptional blogger should NOT follow my lead. I mean, I had a blog a few years ago then deleted it. Started one when I went to Paris (this one actually!), then fell off the bandwagon again.

Do you have to be an every day blogger? Because if that is the case I'm just not going to make it. I simply have nothing to talk about. Unless you want to hear about the Harry Potter Weekend special that's on ABC Family, I've got nothing. Nada. I
'm really curious. I want to make this work.

Oh right. I need to accomplish some things on my list. Then I could blog about it. It's ingenious, really.

But for now...HOW GOOD DO THESE LOOK?
These are carrot cake whoopie pies and they look DIVINE. I saw them on one of my favorite blogs, Abbey Goes Design Scouting! I'm going to make these. Then I'll have something to talk about. Now, back to Harry Potter.

Adding to the List.

So I have a few additions to the list for the summer that came up while I've been in Dothan. (This is what happens when you have to come up with things to fill up your day.)

My mother and I have been wanting to learn to sew or smock or something of that nature and decided to enroll in a smocking class (don't judge) so we will be able to make sweet baby gifts like her other friends do. Y'all, it is HARD. I have enjoyed it though! I've also ordered an embroidery kit so we'll see how that works out. I've come a long way from not knowing how to sew a button onto a shirt THREE weeks ago (again, don't judge.)

Another thing I have been thinking about is how much I like tennis. I've been playing tennis with my dad and realized that although I like tennis, I'm not very good at it. My serve is probably the worst of all time. I aim for the box and it actually lands on the other court's box when I hit. Progress, slowly but surely.

Lastly, I've talked to a few of my close friends who live in the same apartment complex that I do and we have all had a desire to hone our cooking skills. The problem? Cooking for one is not very satisfying OR cost effective. The solution? We're going to cook for each other one night a week and split the cost of the grocery bill. BRILLIANT!

In a nutshell, my added goals for the summer:

11. Smock a (baby's) gown and finish embroidering my tea towel.
12. Learn to effectively serve while playing tennis.
13. Cook a healthy meal for my friends and me once a week.

Am I overachieving here with this list? Maybe. We'll see what happens.

Remember That Time..

I said I'd be back on this blog? Well, here we are, 3 months later, and I am JUST now getting back. I have been swamped with school (who knew a PR major would be so busy with SCHOOL?) but things are finally winding down.

This summer I will not be going back to Paris, but I will be in a great place, nevertheless: Auburn. I can't wait for summer to get here. In all of it's appropriateness, I'm going to make a list of sorts: things that have to be accomplished this summer. Here it goes..

1. Eat at the Yellow Hammer.
2. Camp out somewhere on campus.
3. Eat at Cafe 1-2-3
4. Watch the entire series of a tv show. (We're trying to decide which show. Camilla wants Boy Meets World. But can I watch THAT many episodes of Mr. Feeny? I just don't know.)
5. Read the books on my list. (Don't worry, that post will come soon.)
6. Take a road trip. Even if it's just to Montgomery.
7. Eat at Warehouse Bistro

Does anyone notice a pattern?

8. Pass Economics. (This is not a joke.)
9. (Finally) finish decorating our apartment.
10. Midnight showing: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part Two. (aka my childhood evaporating before my eyes.)

I have other goals as well, things like: growing deeper in my walk with the Lord, investing in the people that will be with me at Auburn, and just making the MOST of my time at Auburn.

The time has gone by so fast already. I can't believe it. Ok, summer. I'm ready for you.
